Fix the iPhone Low Disk Space Problem
If you have installed new applications on your iPhone, you may receive a warning about running out of disk space:
The Fix Disk Space script, available from this site or via Installer.app (thanks to hacktheiphone.com!) fixes this warning in a matter of seconds by shifting the applications installed on your device to the larger data area on the iPhone.
Fix Disk Space is intended to run on iPhone firmware 1.1.1 or later.
Fix Disk Space may fail if you are running the Categories application. Don't fret - all you have to do is open a terminal and run the script manually if it fails.
To fix the issue without messing with the vt100.app or SSH, just install the Fix Disk Space application by following these steps:
- Open the Installer.app
- If you haven't done this, add http://www.hackthatphone.com/1.xml as a source for Installer.
-
Click on Installand scroll the list to Hack that phone tools
-
Select the Fix Disk Space application
-
Click on Install and wait for a few seconds until it completes and reboots. The installer may
give you another warning that you're running out of space during this process. Ignore it.
- Done!
Run Fix Disk Space manually
Some people prefer to see what the code does before running it, and prefer to do things manually. If this is you, then follow these instructions to execute Fix Disk Space in your iPhone:
- Download the amaebi script to /var/amaebi in your iPhone
- chmod +x /var/amaebi
- /var/amaebi
- Wait a few seconds until the script completes; it may take as long as two minutes, depending on how many applications you already installed in your iPhone
- Optional step when you're done: rm -f /var/amaebi
